To Colne Stroke Group
Here at the Colne Stroke Group we understand that dealing with a stroke can be hard, not just for the
individual but for friends and family too. We are a dedicated team of trained volunteers who will
endeavour to support individuals and their families affected by stroke and to help improve the quality of
life for people who have speech, language and communication difficulties as a result of a stroke.
ABOUT
Aims and Objectives
• To improve the quality of life of people who have speech, language and communication difficulties resulting from
stroke by the following means:
1. Providing therapeutic activities for communication difficulties, including use of gesture, drawing, reading and
writing as well as speech
2. Encouraging social participation
3. Offering peer support
4. Working on cognitive skills such as concentration, memory and perception
5. Sharing information about the effects of stroke
• To raise funds used for financing these activities and to meet other requirements
• To promote and maintain close relationships with all persons, including relatives of members, and organisations
interested in stroke survivors and their welfare.
